Swedish Hill Family-owned and operated by Dick and Cindy Peterson, Swedish Hill is one of the largest wineries in the region. After 20 years of growing and selling grapes to area wineries, the Petersons crushed their first grapes in 1985 and opened Swedish Hill Winery in 1986. Swedish Hill is recognized as one of the top award-winning wineries in New York State, having won state, national and international acclaim. In 1997, the Petersons opened a second winery, Goose Watch, also on Cayuga Lake. The emphasis at Goose Watch is on the unusual, featuring a selection of wines that are not very common in other Finger Lakes wineries, such as Viognier, Pinot Gris, Melody, Diamond, Merlot and Lemberger. |

Pompous Ass Winery Just who is the Pompous Ass you may ask? This dear little fellow, named "Sir Jackson," has a waited many years for his creators to bring him to life. Sir Jackson may take himself seriously; but the owners themselves are not of that ilk. Michael and Donna Lucent; who have a penchant for whimsy, believe that the Pompous Ass is the perfect parody for the winculture. In 2000, they purchased the property on Route 14. For eight years this electrician and his artist wife did research, winery seminars, and hired a Consultant. Now they both share their love for each other, and the love of the whole wine culture.
